Purpurite is a rare mineral that is known for its vibrant purple color. It is often found in granite pegmatites and can also be found in hydrothermal veins. The name "purpurite" comes from the Greek word "purpura," which means purple. This mineral has been used as a pigment for centuries and is still used in certain artistic applications today. It is also a popular choice for collectors due to its unique color and rarity. Despite its beauty, purpurite is not commonly used in jewelry due to its low hardness and tendency to break easily.  This material is a dark purple with a silky luster flashing as light hits the stone.
